The BIOS version shouldn't have a lot to do with overclocking as long as you're doing it manually or using a Windows utility to do it. (Do it manually, much more reliable and will help your cpu last longer without the drastic voltage increases used by utilities and automatic overclocking.) If the CPU is working with the BIOS version you have now, all you need is an aftermarket CPU cooler and a little knowledge and some common sense or the ability to read a tutorial.
