G3258 overclocking causing no boot.

I've been able to get my G3258 up to 4.2/4.2ghz, but if I go any higher I have the issue where I'll hit the power button, my system will start up fine, but my monitor won't register any input and neither my keyboard or mouse turn on.
Here's the thing though, it will occasionally start up, and when it does, it's completely stable (I've gone up to 4.6ghz with this), however it does take anywhere from 1 or 2 tries to 6 tries to get it to actually boot.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is your bios up to date? Try a Z87 or 97 mobo instead.

I have updated my UEFI to the latest version, and I'd also love to be able to just whip a Z series motherboard out of thin air, but I'm afraid I can't exactly do that.

Not UEFI software. Bios - firmware.

Some mobos can overclock better than others eg Z is better than H

Okay, my bad. I have update the Bios, even though I said UEFI.
And I know about the limitations of different motherboard series, but I've got what I've got, that's why I'm asking my question rather than throwing my cpu in a better board instead.

Righto, I'll give this a shot sometime soon. I'm running a two 4gb 1333 sticks, one's Corsair, the other's GSkill

That may be the problem. remove one stick and test.

yes running 2 different sticks can give problems. make sure you run both sticks at the speed of the slowest stick.
otherwise you run the other 1 faster than it should

I'm pretty sure your motherboard will run it at the slowest of the two, as running dual dimms at different speeds wouldn't work as all the timings would be off.
I'm yet to try with only one dimm though, I'll do it sometime today.
