I am pretty sure it will bottleneck the graphics card. Upgrade the CPU and the motherboard then the graphics card.

Yes that will do. Do you have a budget for the CPU and motherboard. Yes you have to change the motherboard as the socket you currently have doesn't fit the i3. I am pretty sure you know this, just a reminder.

for gaming i would say get a fx 6300
i3 is good but those 6 cores are really helpful in playing high end games

or get an i5 the best VFM......

A 6 Cores isn't needed for gaming most games only require 4. However there is a catch, the FX-6300 is I clicked and be unlocked. Which also leads you to get a CPU cooler.

But I would say if you want to overclock, get a Pentium G3258.

games might not use 6 cores they use mostly 4 (new gen games)but there is the use of extra two cores while you are playing bf4 game will use 4cores and those 2extra cores will look after background processes reducing stuttering in game and i3 is not at all recommended for hardcore gaming dont get tempted by those extra threads games are dependent on cores not on threads in gaming a pentium g3258 and i3 3220 behave same

get a pentium g3258 and use that saved money to add another 4gb ram

but for HARDCORE gaming FX 6300 is strictly recommended

i should spend more for the processor rather than a mobo, right?

i don't want to overclock. XD considering that my psu is just 400w.

which is better then? 3220 or 3258? im on a tight budget so it should be a student build. XD

The cheapest h97 would be ASRock H97M worth $95.47. atleast here from where i'm from.

hmm. i'll probably get the g3258 then.

If a Z97 is cheaper than that I don't see a reason not to get it. It has more features too.
