I'm looking to upgrade my graphics card a bit and have my sight set on a particular one, which would be the EVGA Superclocked GTX 760 graphics card. I'd really love to order this, but I'm not too tech savvy so I'm not positive it will run with my computer. I did type up on Google about it and it really only came back with the same three posts from one guy across three different forums, about his computer not even starting.
This is a big worry for me, however, my computer is running Windows 8.1, and his was running 7. I've made sure to download the most recent driver update from Acer and install it and such, so now it comes down to whether or not the graphics card is compatible with my computer. I heard some things about the motherboard not wanting to work with it, which caused people having to pay more for a new motherboard- and on the other hand, people saying the motherboard should be just fine with it.
So I guess I'm asking you all- do you think I can purchase this graphics card and plug and play without any extra worries? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm not at my computer right now, but I can try to provide certain specs:

Model: Acer Predator G3620
Mobo: default mobo for this pc
Video card: GeForce GT 630
Processor: Intel core i7 3770
RAM: 12 gb

That's all I got for now, but if you need more let me know. Thanks guys!

The main thing is what PSU do you have?

The standard PSU is unlikely to supply enough power so you will need to upgrade that too. A good quality 500w (seasonic, corsair etc) will be fine.

The PSU is a 500W power supply.

Have a look at the label, how many amps (or watts) does it show for the 12v rail?

Where do I find the label? Do I need to open the computer case itself and look at the PSU? I just left my house for a while to run errands so I might have to wait until I am home.

Yeah there is a label on the PSU.

That said, someone on the acer site has used a 660 ti(similar power requirements) with the stock psu and worked fine, so you might be ok without upgrading it.

Should I disable secure boot before I even install the card? Like, when I get home, or wait until I've installed the card.

Does anyone think I'll need to worry about motherboard incompatibility? Pc-specs.com says the motherboard works, I'm just confused why the other guy's didn't work until he purchased a new one.
