Is the Corsair K95 RGB worth the wait?

I've been looking to get a mechanical keyboard lately, and so far the 2 best ones I've come across are the Corsair K70 and K95. I was originally planning on just buying the K95 because of the 16 programmable G keys, the USB pass-through, and the dedicated media keys. Then I saw the RGB versions... The K70 RGB is already out and I could get it but it bothers me that not a single key is programmable, being a gamer the option to program keys is important to me. So i figured I'd just wait for the K95 RGB to come out. The only problem with that is I can't seem to find any estimated date of when it will actually be available. So my question for all of you, is waiting for the release of the K95 RGB worth it? is paying an extra estimated $40-$50 worth it for the colored backlighting? Should I stick with the regular K95, or should I get the K70 RGB? Please help.

It was originally slated for a "late August" release date. I don't think there have been any updates to that date, so I assumed they've hit some snags that have delayed it. Personally, I have never had a use for back lighting as a gamer; I know where all my keys are by heart and rarely even look at my keyboard. The RGB looks pretty and all but it's by no means a necessity. I've also never really had to use macro keys before, so for me, the K95 would not be worth it.

That actually is a good point and something that crossed my mind a few times. At the moment I'm using a Razer Deathstalker, and even though I can program every key to do almost anything I want them to do, I only have 3 keys programmed and those are F5-F7 which i set to control media. and the back lighting has never been a game changer.

From a previous K95 owner, if you don't need the RGB and don't mind the lack of ESD shielding on the regular K95. Then go for the regular K95, I even recommend buying the FPS keycaps (the wrist thing is not the most confortable but the keys really make a difference IMO).

I spilled beer on my K95 and I really miss my maccros and my custom profiles where only the keys I needed were lit.

It's been 2 months now and my hopeless soul's been spamming F5 on corsair's website in the hopes that it will miraculously appear one day...

Anyways, I'm sold to Corsair keyboards since my K95, and I think the RGB will suit me perfectly.

Hope this helps you make a choice!

Please excuse my english as it is not my main language.

One of the only things that makes me want to just go with the K70 RGB instead of waiting for the K95 RGB, is 1. I have to wait for the k95, and 2. I don't really play MMO's very often, i play games like League of Legends where i only need a few keys for abilities and items. So I'm wondering if i should just forget waiting, give into my impatient tendencies ad get the K70 RGB

Can you explain what type of programming your talking about when you say:

I received my K70 RGB last week and while the software has a little bit of a learning curve at first you can eventually program ALL of the keys to do what ever you want them to do including the media buttons, mute button, windows key lock button, and the led brightness button.

I'm honestly in the same boat, I've been checking consistently. While it's not a very scientific answer, I saw/used both the K95 RGB and the K70 RGB (and for what it's worth K65 RGB) and I really believe the the LEDs in the K95 RGB are brighter than the K70 RGB...

To each their own.

I did exchange my second K95 for the RGB version.

I had too many dead leds on the old K95 model. Hopefully that RGB version will be better.

Two things to notice however on the RGB K95:

The body is not full aluminium as before. The bottom is all basic plastic.
The USB port/pass through is gone! That ws not mentionned anywhere!

So if your K95 has no problem, keep it! So much money to loose quality (out of led I hope...) does not worth it.

Hope this helps
