Hello,
Need your expert advice.
I have a Linksys E4200 & A Rogers Advanced Wifi Modem. I'm trying to optimize my wireless network for the best settings but I need some help - the literature I'm reading has way too much differing opinion.
- So, for starters, previously I had two networks, The 5G & 2.4G. I have noticed that this was too complicated for me to remember which devices were 5G & to connect them to the 5G network. So, I completely disabled the 5G network and I'm working on one 2.4G. Is this the best route? I have been reading about switching channels for the router which I will do - but what other router-based settings can I apply in order to optimize the signal?
- I have the Rogers Advanced Wifi modem turned off on transmitting; the wireless signal is solely being transmitted from the Linksys router.
- My house is 3 levels, I have the linksys router in the office on level 2, connected through an ethernet cord to the basement - Rogers Wifi Modem on level 1. The office is situated on one side of the house. I need help with:
- While I am able to connect to the network anywhere in the home, I have reduced speed on level 3 and 1. I am looking to buy a device like a wireless repeater - BUT I have been reading that this will only extend range and can increase latency. What's the best way to go about this? A new Antenna? Any recommended products?
- Is there any way for me to have the Rogers Modem downstairs (level 1) repeat the the signal from the E4200 on the first level? It seems strange to me because the original signal is initiated from the basement level, so it would have to travel up to the router, and then back down to the modem to be amplified.
I have drawn an image because I figured what I'm explaining is a bit tough to understand:
