Hello i got my new harddrive a few days ago i installed windows 8 on the SSD harddrive and tryed to change the default install location to the HDD drive that uses D:/ but when i installed adobe after effects i had to move common files from d:/ to c:/ to make it work or else i got error also the shortcuts on the desktop gets set to "C:\Program Files (x86)" instead of "D:\Program Files (x86)"
here is 2 screenshots 1 of regedit "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion" and 1 of the shortcut properties of the program audacity, iam norwegian so it says in norwegian:

A possible 'dirty' workround is to have a shortcut in C:\ called "Program Files (x86)" but have it point to "D:\Program Files (x86)". This might fool some installers into following the link. Not guaranteed to work, and probably won't, but some older installers might be OK.

Best I can say is it seems to be a bug with the install program. If it offers an alternative install drive, I've never had to do anything special. It is possible to manually update the registry to make it work but that can be very difficult as there are so many entries for each application. It wouldn't be my choice to try. You may find that some apps will have to go on the C: drive. Good luck. Sorry I couldn't be much more help.
