Hello,
For a few days my computer has been shutting down after 30-60 min usage.
That's the computer I've been using for years & I could play for hours with game on 2560x1440 monitor while watching streams / films on a 1920x1200 monitor.

Thinking it could be because of overheating I fully cleaned it with pressurized air and checked the fans: they work.
Monitoring CPU usage: nothing special, mostly low even in game

I have been monitoring the heat.
The Asus GTX 680 temp was about 73c at max, which seems largely within acceptable limits. I think it can go as high as 130c.

The rest of the system I monitored with Speedfan.
It reported system temp between 35-55c.

And the processor was within 35-65c. It's a Core i7 920.

I thought the processors could go as high as 70c. Is this true?
Is there an easy way to record temps so that I know exactly how hot the computer was when it shut down?

Is my system overheating or should I look for another issue?
Where should I look?

If I buy a new system should I take my old 680GTX in it or should I buy a 770GTX?
Thanks,
Cedric

Thanks,
It's true that the power supply feels hot although I have no point of comparison. I'll try playing with open case.

All temps look normal, i don't think overheating is the problem and good on you for keeping on top of that. I would probably first suspect the power supply going bad given the nature of shutdowns but wouldn't hurt to try with an open case or fan blowing on it's side toward the psu in case itself is overheating, in which case is not a good sign of a healthy psu.

Corsair is up there in quality, so is XFX and Seasonic whom Corsair rebrands, and for what it's worth will depend on usage and power efficiency. For you rig, i recommend going at least a 750Watt.

Taking into a account your 650W did very well under the load it's been put under for so long :)
