Hi all,

So I have this problem that's been going on for about a year now, which is that while I'm gaming my computer will occasionally (and randomly) lock up. This happens mostly while gaming but has also happened while streaming videos or on Skype. Sometimes I can go for hours without a problem--sometimes it will freeze within minutes.

There is never any BSOD; the screen simply freezes in place (cursor included), the sound cuts out, and the computer is then non-responsive to mouse or keyboard, requiring a manual restart.

I've tried updating my drivers, checking temps with Furmark, removing/turning off background running programs, etc.--I cannot figure out what's happening.

Computer is a custom-built PC, with the following specs:
Gigabyte BA-MA780X-UD4P mobo
AMD Phenom II x4 940
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 260
8 GB RAM
Windows 7 64-bit

I can only think of 2 things:

1. Dust. Have you cleaned your desktop recently?

2. Battery/AC charger. It could be that your battery is dying but this may not be an issue with desktops. I would check anyways just to make sure that it hasn't lost any charge..
