Hi,
I set up this configuration for my workstation. I'm working with AfterEffect, Premiere and Photoshop and I like to play video games.

Corsair Obsidian 750d http://www.amazon.it/Corsair-Obsidian-750D-Nuova-versio... € 126
ASUS SABERTOOTH 990FX R2.0 http://www.amazon.it/Asus-SABERTOOTH-990FX-R2-0-ASUS/dp... € 155
Corsair AX760 80Plus Platinum http://www.amazon.it/Corsair-CP-9020045-EU-AX760-80Plus... € 158
AMD AM3+ FX-8350 http://www.amazon.it/AMD-AM3-FX-8350-Box-Processore/dp/... € 158
Corsair 8GB (1x 8GB) DDR3 Vengeance http://www.amazon.it/Corsair-8GB-1x-DDR3-Vengeance/dp/B... € 86
Seagate 2TB 64Mb SataIII http://www.amazon.it/Seagate-ST2000DM001-S-ATA-CACHE-72... € 94
Samsung SSD 120GB Serie 840 SataIII http://www.amazon.it/Samsung-MZ-7TE120BW-SSD-840-Solo/d... € 64
AMD FIREPRO W7000 4GB GDDR5 http://www.amazon.it/AMD-FIREPRO-W7000-4GB-GDDR5/dp/B00... € 755

I'm wondering if the FX-8350 is ok or if I need to choose an Intel cpu.

Thanks!

If you can afford it, a intel is always better, it has stronger cores, but a 8320 will be okay too

No need for an Intel processor. It boils down to personal preference most of the time. Intel usually beats AMD on standard benchmarks, but real world people have reported similar performance between teh two.

Intel is better at Gaming and Rendering but AMD will do the job just not as fast and a little cheaper. If your really serious into spending hours upon hours into Rendering, Intel's I7's are the better answer and if you want to run multiple high res monitors or multi GPU configurations Intel again is the answer.

AMD are good chips for if your doing moderate amounts of both at a normal 1080 res.

8GB RAM is a little light for a workstation. That is only 1GB / core with an 8 core CPU.

I like better the AMD solution because it's cheaper :)

A think that 'the moderate amount of both' better describes my work. I use Premiere and After Effects every day, but just for a couple of hours...

looks moer like a gaming rig with workstation vid cards [??] seems you may as well get desktop cards for that or a better suited board for Opteron processors at least get away from asus [opinion ]

I did not know about all those problems!

Maybe the ASUS M5A99FX PRO R2.0 would be a better solution
