Can I upgrade the CPU/GPU in my Lenovo G505s

CPUs can sometimes be changed, depending on the laptop itself. Also, you are usually limited to the same processor family and generation. I usually recommend finding out what other configurations were available for your laptop with that specific motherboard (some laptops have both Intel and AMD processors, and will have different motherboards based on processor brand), and that should give you an idea of what would work.

Don't count on being able to upgrade the CPU by much, if you can. Heat is an even larger concern on laptops, and there may be different cooling setups based on the specific processor installed. Also, CPUs using the same socket may not be compatible (AMD did stuff like this during the Turion series).
