Hi guys could you give me some help, considering getting one, is the wifi for it any good,ie downloading, streaming etc? Or would I need something else? Also sorry if this is a silly question but if I had a decent graphics card and only one monitor (for the time being), would I connect the monitor to the graphics card or the motherboard? Or does it matter? I will be using it for 3ds and photoshop but also browsing etc, cheers guys

dice clay,

I don't have a wifi router so can't say if the wifi is good, but it seems to be picking up the neighbors wifi which is password protected so I can't comment on the speed, but it seems to be pretty decent. the antenna looks decent as well and is magnetic and can be configured. however, if you are going with a desktop plug your computer in. it's not like you will be carrawying your desktop to starbucks. isn't this obvious?? unless you have free wifi in your building or something like that desktop wifi is an oxymoron.

as far as monitor to motherboard connection it goes like this, you plug your gpu into your mobo and then part of the gpu sticks out the back of the case and you plug your monitor into your gpu when you have an x99 board. some motherboards when paired with a cpu that has onboard graphics can have adapters for monitors so you don't need a separate gpu. This is not the case with the x99 chipset and if you buy an x99 chipset board like the x99 deluxe or any of the other haswell-e motherboards you will need a separate gpu to plug in your monitor. this has to do with intel not putting a graphics section on their x99 cpu's.

ironically, since I wrote my reply i bought a ac1750 dlink wi fi router. And then just for s ang giggles I tested it vs my plug in internet. when using my very fast router with the x99 deluxe built in wi fi I saw no difference in internet speed when using speedtest.net or when checking the 1gb/s speed at the driver.

when surifing subjectively the pages loaded the same and I coudln't tell the difference from the wi fi router or the plug in ethernet port.

anyone know how else I could test the speed of the wifi?

seems good to me
