I installed a new copy of windows. My computer is not recognizing my video card because the driver isn't installed, therefore I can not change my screen resolution, and the resolution is too low. When I go to install the catalyst control center, I can't click the "next" button to continue the installation because of my screen resolution. Is there a way I can force my screen resolution so I can install the drivers? I just need to like zoom out so I can click the next button...

Resolution right now is greyed out and stuck on 640x480, I'm on 1360x768 monitor...

Generic PnP monitor
Intel Graphics

I don't know if I misunderstood something, but why are you installing Radeon drivers when you have intel graphics?

My graphics card is a Raedon 7870 , but I can't install its drivers because of the resolution, can't click next to install. Therefore I'm stuck on default intel drivers.

Yor screen resolution is not what is stopping the radeon drivers installing

First thing is to check you have the cable from the monitor plugged in to the graphics card and not the video ports on the motherboard

Yes, the cable is plugged into the video card. My screen resolution is stuck so small right now that when the program to install the drivers comes up, I can't click next. I can't drag the catalyst control suite installation to click next either. I need a way to force my resolution to a larger resolution, which would allow me to install the catalyst control suite.

Until your gfx card is installed, use the vga or whatever output on your motherboard. Switch over once it's installed.

You should be able to change the screen resolution to something that fits the screen with the generic windows VGA drivers.

It'll work, it's standard procedure on new builds or OS updates.

I'm not getting any signal on my monitor from the motherboard... plugging vga directly into motherboard vga, no adapter. I don't have an adapter that fits my MB. All MB drivers are installed via CD that came with MB.

You should not get any signal from the mb while the card is in place

Without a driver you should be getting the same desktop as a safe mode start up .
Are you using an HDMI connection ? DONT

If that is not the case then perhaps your monitor is very old and windows doesnt have the correct set up data for it
Try another monitor .

Unplug the graphics card. Find an adaptor that works with your motherboard and monitor or other interfaces(hdmi, dvi.) Your OS needs to be accessed before installing new hardware. Borrow from a friend if you have to.

Ok, I've unplugged my graphics card, and am now running off my mobo. This allows me to get a screen up and it's in the proper resolution. However, I can't install the graphics card driver software because there is no graphics card in there. And when I put a graphics card in there, I'm back to square one of not being able to get a display signal off the mobo, only the card in the wrong, locked resolution.

Right now I'm sitting on no video card in, display in 1360x768 (correct) resolution off the mobo. No raedon drivers installed (can't?)

This was entirely predictable .

Id suggest following someone elses advice instead

Well, I've still got no solution. Tried installing programs from the graphics card cd and they said they installed. Still nothing,

Go down the the bottom taskbar, right click choose properties and then choose "auto-hide the taskbar". It'll drop down out of the way and you'll be able to click "next" on the Catalyst Install Manager.

Try a different monitor

-Right click on desktop.
-Go to screen resolution and change it there.

Just like that, be sure of use a resolution that is compatible with your monitor. If you get a black screen, you selected an incompatible resolution, just wait 15 seconds and it will roll back automaticaly.

Can I mark this answer as... worst answer ever?

I doubt anyone really cares now with an attitude like that. Even if you don't have a graphics driver installed you usually can choose a higher resolution of some sort. I've had your exact problem installing the drivers on a 1920x1200 monitor and either my previous post or what mlga91 suggested would work.
