Win 7 Home Preinstalled, Dell Vostro 460, 4 Gig Ram, C drve, original 1/2TB( C Drive nearly full), extra 3TB (D,E & F drives)..

In sequence; 1st problem, mouse moved fine but did not grey out icons on mouseover,on mouseover of the "start" Windows logo mouse froze in that spot. Cntrl-Alt-Del did not work, changed out those wireless mouse and keyboard for wired. Exactly same problem on reboot, (both did install well). Had a small window open every time if opened in regular windows mode DSD 3600 , DSD (I think) 3608, DSD 4816 errors. First 2 times starting through safe mode after hard reset got regular black background with the dos style loading of programs. 3rd time opening safe mode with networking I got a bright red screen! programs loading exactly the same but background in everything is red, for instance toms hardware in IE is red with white background.
Probably should mention that my monitor shows nothing (black) when in safe mode, it only lights up when windows stars. I am now seeing what I am typing on my TV as I have an HDMI connected to it. And oddly enough previously I could see both safe and full Windows mode on TV, but as of today I can only see safe mode on TV and it goes black when windows pops up on my monitor.
Tried a system restore but only point allowed was 3am last night which for about 1 minute worked fine, but after that froze on the start logo. Perhaps only one restore point as there is no space on C drive? Is that Likely?
tried my Backup disks, It could see the disk but could not find the file to use.

Anyone run into something like this? Thanks.
(Hitman pro paid version found no virus)

UPDATE: 5 min after I posted this I pulled the computer out of its area and screen flashed to standard background color (still in safe mode with Networking), so perhaps the red was just an HDMI cable partly unplugged or something.
