Dear Community,

I am struggling with a situation, and I need an advice.

A small office uses a Comcast router 10.1.10.1, and 2 wireless access points 10.1.10.8 and 10.1.10.8 located at first and second floors, connected by cable. There are 2 SSIDs (e.g. Network1 and Network2) setup on both access points with channel 1 on the first AP, and channel 6 on the second.

Most out of 10 users use Network1, and every once in a while this network stops providing Internet access. The wireless network connection icon gets a yellow exclamation point, and Internet is no longer accessible. Switching to Network2 resolves the issue, as it still provides Internet. Users can also disconnect from Network1 and after reconnection Internet connectivity is restored.

In a few minutes Network1 may get back to full Internet connectivity. During such Internet outage ping and tracert commands don't reach neither router, nor access points.

All users get IP addresses via DHCP, including visitors and wireless devices there may be up to 15 clients.

Original access points were directional Amped Wireless that didn't cover the area properly. They were replaced with 2 Cisco WAP4410N. The problem remained. I thought that it is the router that can't handle too many connections, and Comcast has recently installed a new router.

We have all new hardware and the problem remains. I would appreciate any suggestions.

Thank you in advance.

Hi digitaldoc, thank you for your reply. Unfortunately, wired Ethernet is not an option due to location restrains. Do you have any suggestions on the wireless?

Thanks.
