Alright, so, I am 17 years old and trying to figure out Active Directory. I have setup AD on a Windows Server 2008 R2 in my house and forwarded the computer to my public IP as well as adding a domain to the PC. My domain controller is like this: local.mysite.com

So I setup AD on the server and everything worked fine. I setup one of my home computers with Windows 7 Pro to be on the domain and the login works for that aswell.

Now, this Windows XP computer is on the domain and I can login to it with the Administrator account, but when I try to make a new account and login the XP with the limited new account, it gives me this error on the XP PC:

Quote:
Windows cannot log you on because your profile cannot be loaded. Check that you are connected to the network or that your network is functioning correctly. If this problem persists, contact your network administrator

DETAIL - Access is denied.

I only get this error when I try to login with the new account I made in AD on the XP computer. I can login to this account perfectly fine on WIN7.

I have no idea what to do as I am still a beginner with AD. I just started working with it a week ago. Any assistance would be appreciated.

First thing to do is to change the domain name, as mysite.com is a registered domain! Choose a .local name instead, because the AD DNS will not rout that to the public DNS for address resolution.

The XP machine already joined the domain? It's not only the user account it's also the resource (the PC).

well... local.mysite.com was an example. I do not feel comfortable sharing the actual domain. My domain is fine and I don't intend to change it.
