Okay, this might sound odd, but...

OS refuses to boot when I have 2 GPU's installed, connected via SLI and the DVI cable plugged into the first graphics card - it just gets stuck on mobo manufacturers logo. When I plug the DVI cable into the second graphics card then OS boots just fine. Also boots fine with just one graphics card installed in the first slot.

Could this have anything to do with my second monitor being connected via VGA with motherboard and CPU's integrated GPU?

Wondering what could be the issue here?

Have you tried switching the cards position in their slots? And your second monitor being on your integrated GPU might present an odd ball program like this. You could try a VGA-DVI adapter if possible.

Haven't tried switching cards yet, but I'll give it a try once I'm back from work. Maybe motherboard acts up when there is a second card installed, although in BIOS settings I did have read from PCIE1 ticked first.
I'll also try unplugging VGA from mobo and connecting DVI into the first card to see if that fixes it. If that fixes it, I'll go pick up another DVI cable and let you guys know of the result here.

If you have intel hd drivers disable it. Don't uninstall it. You'll still be able to update nvidia drivers. I ran into a similar problem.
