i have maximus v gene mobo
i5 3570 3.4 Ghz
R9 270x 2 Gb
2x Ram G.skill 4 Gb 1333 bus
win 8.1 64bit

and my bios version is 1408 should i update my bios for better performance

BIOS updates generally do not improve performance as regards the speed or responsiveness of your system, and you should never update BIOS unless you have to for hardware compatibility reasons or to take advantage of new or additional features which you need.

In any case, you should always read the information about a specific BIOS update (ie what it actually does) before even considering going ahead with it.

If your system is working okay with the existing BIOS version, leave it alone.
