So I am trying to record battlefield 4 gameplay with dxtory, but get massive fram drops recording, the game will always run at 90+ fps without recording on ultra, ut when I record i play at 70 and the file is recorded at about 30-60 it has massive fps drops and i dont know how to fix it, I am using the lossless lagarith codec if that makes a difference. Should i change the codec? How can i fix this, bandicam makes it lag lke crazy and dxtory doesnt record the file at a good fps!

Lossless files can be VERY large. It is always best to record to another drive to avoid the hard drive having to do something else while recording. Since the drive can only do so much at a time, it may have to drop some frames to perform another action.

If you have a newer Nvidia based(GTX 650 and newer) card, you can try to use ShadowPlay since it is compressed(with the video card so the cpu load is not as high), it does not take as much toll on the drive even if the drive has to do something else the data can be buffered to avoid loss.

just ordered a 1tb wd black. Was that a good idea? Put all recordings on that drive, will it run smoother?

got myself another harddrive and its worse. Put all the settings to low, was getting 140+fps on the video, but on the file? Not even a stable 60, something is wrong and I don't have a clue what! the write speed of the new hdd is 170mb/s so what on earth is going on!

I see almost no way for it to be worse.

Your frame rates will almost always look worse if you record 60fps and try to display 140+ because the capture will only be taking every 2 or so frames to record. Also unless you have a 120/144hz screen you must have page tearing happening at those rates as well.
