650D Front Panel Left USB 3.0 Port "Crashes" While Testing Sandisk Extreme Flash Drive + Several Other Weird Occurrences

After receiving a Sandisk Extreme 3.0 Flash Drive, I've been speed testing with CrystalDiskMark.
On most plug-in attempts (using the front panel 3.0 ports), the "Other Device" menu shows that the flash drive is "Connected to USB 3.0". However, there are plug-in attempts where "Device can perform faster when connected to USB 3.0" is displayed, and the benchmarks reflect USB 2.0 speeds.

In addition, there are some plug-in attempts where windows 8.1 will re-install files for the operation of the flash drive (this only seems happen when I alternate plug-ins between the left and right 3.0 ports. Immediately re-plugging into the same port will not result in a re-installation).

The biggest problem is the left front panel 3.0 port and this only occurs when the left 3.0 port is operating at SuperSpeed. While the right 3.0 port never crashes when CrystalDiskMark is running, the left port will always result in Windows re-installing the "necessary files" for the flash drive causing the benchmark to error (and this only happens during the Write portion of the test, never during the Read test). After windows re-installs files for the flash drive, the port reverts back to 2.0 speeds and "Device can perform faster when connected to USB 3.0" is displayed. Re-running the benchmark while it's under this condition will not cause Windows to re-install any files for the flash drive.

When plugged into the back panel USB 3.0 ports, no weird behaviors are exhibited. (Although I haven't tested the flash drive in the back ports as extensively)

Here's what I've tried:
- Updating USB 3.0 drivers. (Both Intel and ASMedia USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controllers are up to date. There are no exclamation marks in device manager.)
- Updating the chipset driver and bios for my motherboard from Asus' website.
- Disabling the "USB selective suspend setting" in power options

My guess is that the left 3.0 port is faulty and the entire front panel I/O needs to be replaced.
Or, there's a problem with the 20-Pin Motherboard Female to 2 Type-A Female Connectors Y-Cable (purchased separately since the 650D didn't come with a direct 20-pin connector for the front panel 3.0 ports).
Perhaps unlikely (and I sincerely hope this isn't the case), my motherboard is messed up.

I appreciate you guys for taking out of your own time to help me with this issue.

Nah, I've seen a few cases where one of the headers would not work at all while the other worked fine. That doesn't necessarily mean that it's YOUR problem, just that it's a possibility. You know what I'd try is locating the newest driver installation packages for both the Intel and ASMedia controllers and then going into Programs and features and uninstalling the currently installed packages.

Then go into device manager and right clicking each controller and select uninstall and make sure to check the box that says uninstall driver too in the confirmation window that opens. I'd keep my mouse plugged in to the front usb port that works and uninstall the Intel stuff first and then the ASMedia as you will likely lose use of your mouse...

Thank you, haven't tried routing the front panel cables to the rear of the mobo. Everything seems to be working fine with the right 3.0 port now. Just the left 3.0 port has issue only when writing. Still crashing, re-installing files, and operating at 2.0 speeds.

If it was the motherboard, wouldn't the right 3.0 port also crash? I always thought the 20-pin connection didn't differentiate between the two usb hubs.

Alternating plug-ins between the two still causes windows to re-install files for the operation of the flash drive. This doesn't happen on on the back 3.0 ports nor on the front ports of my other pc (540 air).

After removing all USB drivers and related software and rebooting, reinstall the ASMedia drivers and then the Intel drivers.
