Hello everyone,

I just recently finished my gaming computer build as of a few days ago, however, I made the bad decision of skimping out on the PSU, by going with an Ultra LSP 750w. Moments after installing it, it pretty much pooped out on me, so after a few hours of testing it, I eventually got a refund on it after sending it back. I did however call tech support about it, and they said that my system will use up at least 700+ watts at the minimum, apparently even when not under heavy load.

My system: (no overclocks... yet)

CPU: FX 8350
CPU Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
GPU: GTX 780 SC w/ ACX Cooling
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8) 1600MHz
HDD: WD Blue 1TB
SSD: Samsung 840 Evo 250GB
Motherboard: ASUS M5A99X Evo r2.0

And I also have 5 120mm LED case fans, a small wireless network card, and all the other basic peripheral components.

So regardless of whether or not 750 watts is enough, I'll still need to buy one in the end, so that's where I need your help in. Any recommendations for a great quality PSU (around $100 or under preferably), would be greatly appreciated, and thank you in advance!

Yes a GTX 780 is a wattage hog. I would not go with anything less than 900 Watts. You should be able to get a decent power supply for $100 but you may have to chip in $50 more...

Personally I would try to come up with $80 more and go with this on:

Awesome deal.

Corsair Rm series have tons of problems, the most common being their price.

that is a complete load of crap that your system would use 700w, especially not while idle or booting.

that power consumption figure is with a 6 core 3960x oc'd to 4.3ghz and is taken at the wall, so would be less at the dc output of the psu. I dont even think with an artificial full load on cpu and gpu it would get to 650w possibly on your system at the wall
The problem is the brand Ultra has a reputation for producing sub-par PSU's.
