No signal from graphics card

I recently bought a Radeon R9 270 and can't get it to output a signal. The computer boots, I get the usual beep after successful post and the fans are running, but no signal to my monitor or television from any of the outputs. Onboard graphics don't output signal when the GPU is plugged in (as to be expected), and everything works fine when the GPU is removed.

Things I've considered:

Yes, the 6 pin power cable is plugged into the GPU.

I have a 500 watt PSU with two 20amp 12v rails, so it should have enough power, but maybe the box is wrong?

I've tried pulling the ram in various configurations, and it hasn't made any difference.

I suspect it might be something to do with the motherboard, but have no way to confirm it (no spare computers to access, and no spare graphics cards available). Its an obscure version of the Intel H61H2 chipset made by Acer called the H61H2-AD that I haven't been able to find any info on at all. Maybe its a compatibility issue?

Any ideas?

What are your rest ,specs?
As for onboard graphics. It should work even with the Gpu plugged in. Mine does. I suspect the problem is with the GPU.

The rest of the specs are:

Intel Core i5 3.00GHz
8 gig DDR Ram
1,024 gig hard drive.

You probably don't need to know how many USB ports I have or whatever, so, uh, that's it really. It's a pretty bare-bones system.

Sounds like it's booting fine. There's some with the cable or monitor.

I did just find this thread in another forum, where some folks seem to be running into the same problem I've had.

One of the later posts suggests that it is to do with secure-boot locking out new hardware. Any idea if that could be the case?

It's an Acer. Used to be an Aspire xc600.

But! Okay! I tried the solution at the bottom of the thread I posted and figured it would be a good idea to share it here, too, so that other folks can see it too. It is totally a problem with secure boot. No idea why, but secure boot wouldn't allow the computer to recognize a new graphics card. I took out the graphics card, restarted the computer went into the BIOS, set secure boot to DISABLED, and changed Launch CSM to ALWAYS. Turned off the computer, installed the new graphics, booted up again, and it displays just fine. I'm assuming that there's nothing wrong with the GPU since the monitor is plugged straight into it. I'm installing the drivers now.

Secureboot is a feature on workstations, like Dell, HP, or Acer system, to prevent users from installing new hardware. Theses are systems designed for office environments, so you can understand why you wouldn't want someone installing a videocard or an HDD.

You generally won't experience these issues with a custom build, which is why I asked if you were using a brand-name system.

Yeah, I needed a cheap computer for working from home, not really expecting to get back into gaming (and I was right: it was my wife who got into gaming again, not me).

Anyways, everything seems to be working fine now! Going to test it out on some games. Or, at least watch it get tested out on some games.
