I've got two 2gb Ram sticks in my motherboard with 4 slots available. What slots should I plug them into to get the most out of them? My board is the Asus M4A88T-M, it's a dual channel board and I believe 1&3 and 2&4 are the same channels. Do I put my sticks in 1 and 3 or 1 and 2? Basically I don't know if I should run them on the same channel or if running them on separate channels would be more beneficial, or if it even makes a difference at all. Also, getting another two sticks is not really an option right now.

Use the two blue slots. As per the manual.

Its probably marked on the motherboard, but on most motherboards, pretty much all of them, its like you said 1&3 is Channel 1, and 2&4 is Channel 2. So having them in the first two slots will give the most performance.

If you are worried put them in the two slots furthest away from each other. The ones on each end are always in different channels.

So its 100% better to keep them on the same channel? and not to split them? Please explain your answer

its safe to use them in the same channel, but will lower performance. You double the possible bandwidth by putting them in different channels.

The two blue slots are for high speed RAM.
The RAM works together, and Dual Channel allows them to communicate, increasing performance. Splitting them up reducing performance.

use the two blue slots, as per the manual for your motherboard: http://www.asus.com/Motherboards/M4A88TMUSB3/HelpDesk_M...

Should be slot 1 and slot 2.

The manual shows the first two black ones are A2 and B2, then the blue ones are A1 and B1. Use A1 and B1? Right now I have it plugged into the black ones only. which would be A2 and B2. you want me to plug them into a1 and b1 correct?

Use the two blue ones, that's why they are blue. Do what the manual says, not what we say. That's why it comes with a manual :)
