Im planning on making a build with a 780 in it. I was wanting to know with the progression of games if i would have to upgrade, if i stayed at 1080p ultra.

Thanks for your input.

Not for at least 5 years, no. After that, you can still use the card, but the performance to the games at the time would start becoming less. At a time you would want to upgrade, but that's at least 5 years.

Lol.. it depends on your tolerance for gradually playing at lower and lower in-game settings over the years.

If you wanted to stay at around 60FPS ultra 1080P, then you would probably have to change your card in two and a half years or so at the rate games are progressing. But then again, this is just a guess. Probably you may have to tone down the AA in the years to come.

There is a lot of schools of thought on that. Some would say most games are made for consoles and are ported to the PC and will never fully utilize the new GPUs. Others would say that there are plenty of PC only games that are made for beefy GPUs. Some might say that people are moving away from their consoles and that there will be an insurgence of new games for PCs and others would say the PC is dead for games.

I guess it depends on the type of games you like and how much eye candy you need. Or, it could be you just want bragging rights to the fastest FPS. (Yes I am looking at you crazy GTX Titan Zs in quad SLI users)

I personally have a GTX 780 and love it and if I need more power I will just put a second one in SLI. I know some games don't support SLI graphics cards but so be it.
