I went to my Acer Aspire SAE380 UD440A PC which was up and running and found that it was off. I checked the outlet, it was good. I checked the power cable-good. I checked the power-on button, it functioned physically with the clicks. I checked the wire connections- intact. I cleaned out the inside, especially the fans, vents and connections. I checked the terminal connections, jacks and plugs- intact. The only things left were the power supply unit itself or maybe it was the little round battery. My power supply failed last year, but it went out little by little, not suddenly off, so I thought maybe it is the little round battery, but I don't have experience observing what happens when that goes out. I don't know whether to look for a new power supply (they are discontinued for this model) and if so is there a compatible one? How can I be sure it's the power supply?

Thanks for trying. This does not help me in the slightest.

I agree with InvalidError, cheap power supplies will burn out easily and quickly.
That being said I would guess that it's your power supply and you should get a Corsair or Antec branded power supply.

Also, more common than a burnt out power supply is that the power cords that plug into the power supplies can easily become loose or fall out.
Don't check the cord just at the wall outlet where is plugs in for power but also on the other end where it connects to you computer/power supply.

It is wildly obvious that this is crappy equipment. Didn't think it needed to be said. Trusting that I can get straight to the question after listing things I have tried so as not to get them as suggestions, I trust that there is an expert around there that is able to take on a challenge involving crappy machines because that is the object that is naturally giving me problems. Since you are a help site, what are you here for if not to help? If I had these Greater than life products you suggest, I wouldn't need you would I? That is something else I trusted I wouldn't have to clear up first. Can anyone take the challenge and come up with a feasible solution to fix this crappy computer with maybe a better than crappy or equally crappy OEM power supply that's used (since they don't make this type anymore) or knows of a compatible one for this particular crappy computer?

BTW, I stated that I checked the outlet, then I checked the cord, which would mean both ends, and the plug into the power supply is covered under checking terminal connections, jacks and plugs. I did this so the person with a solution would not have to type in vain stuff that I wasn't needing a solution to. I was hoping for an expert solution, one that didn't find it necessary to pity me on my crappy equipment first or insult my intelligence with their incompetence in providing pertinent answers, but someone who could offer me intelligent choices given the challenge of the limitations specified. My time is up on finding a solution. I regret choosing this site to give me a quick answer.
