While I was installing my Hyper 212 evo on my fx-8320, I accidentally applied more thermal paste than I needed to. I really don't want to take it off again, so I'm wondering if it'll have a huge impact on my temps. Would it make a HUGE difference to clean the excess off?

(The thermal compound is spilling over the edges, but just barely.)

Why risk it? It's not like you have anything to lose, just remove it with some rubbing alcohol and a cotton swab and apply a pea sized dot and you should be good to go.

Clean it up , you might ruin your board if you don't.
