I am looking for the weak link in my PC and looking to upgrade it for Rendering (I'm getting my degree in CAD +Engineering soon). My pc does all i ask gaming wise (which i do a lot of) but is a slow on the rendering side with programs like Revit, 3Ds max, and inventor. My system is:

Motherboard: Asus P8Z77 V-Pro

CPU: i7-3700K

Ram: Corsair Vengance 2x8 16GB

Storage: 120gb SSD for OS, 120GB SSD for CAD only programs, & 1TB HDD for all drawings & pics

GPU: EVGA GTX 760 SC

PSU: EVGA 700W

CPU and GPU cooled with custom water loop w/ 240mmX 60mm & 420mmX60mm Rads in push pull.

Ive been looking at the new X99, HASWELL-E but is just to far out of my price range mainly because of the cost of DDR4 memory.

SO i looked at the X79 stuff but seems to outdated. i also looked at Z97 but didnt seem quite qorth the jump.. IM kind of stuck.

What do you guys think? My budget is pprobably MAX around $600

im mainly looking for more rendering power which is why i was looking at the 6 and 8 core processors.

Thanks!

Solution
Good choice. I also heard somewhere on Tom's Hardware about something on Quadros and Firepros in gaming...
Aha, here it is:http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/workstation-graphics-card-gaming,3425.html
I'd say your CPU is fine, it's your GPU. nVidia and AMD gimp the compute function on their gaming cards (AMD less than nVidia, but both are less than the workstation cards).

I would saw get a AMD R9 290X or for nVidia a Titan. Getting a workstation card will impact your gaming performance and the cards I mentioned will be good for both worlds. If your programs require Cuda (which I believe 3ds Max does) then you have to get a nVidia card.

I cant seem to find a regular titan anywhere just the titan z and titan blacks...

The regular Titans are so outdated that they're not in retailers anywhere. try finding one on eBay?

OK iill look. Would titan Black be better since its not outdated?

The Titan Black replaced the original Titan. That would be the one to get, if you want the original version eBay will likely have used ones.

you know when i was going to build this machine i planned on doing a quadro and a 760 card together. but i couldn't really figure out how to use them both without it being a pain in turning on and off each card when i wanted to use them on top of having both types of drivers. DO you know if its possible to keep my current 760 for gaming and a quadro for rendering id be extremely interested to kno how to do it????

i think thatd be my BEST senario would be to have both cards
