Hi

I have misoponia and I am looking for a decent pair of headphones in the range of 50 dollars (willing to pay more if required) I want something which is really good at blocking outside sounds(people talking, food noises etc) while I am reading or otherwise want some peace and quiet

Thanks in advance

If you want to block out sound completely, you probably want to go for a much more expensive pair of headphones, for $50 you just won't block out all the sound. Bose QC15s will block out pretty much all sound. If you just want to minimize sound, http://www.amazon.com/dp/B0031RG832/ref=asc_df_B0031RG8... these will work, and they're $200 cheaper.

Thanks for the response, for the audio technica pair you suggested does music have to be turned on to block sound or can you just leave them on without playing any music will they work that way?

They do work without sound coming through, but they do use batteries.
