Yesterday a strange thing happened with my new computer that I have had a few weeks. I turned it on and everything sounded normal on the post but the screen never came on. I checked the connection of my monitor to the computer and tightened it a little. Then I tried again and still the same problem-sounds normal, fans are running, but no display. I turn the monitor off and on and still not working.
Next I unplugged my monitor and pluged it into my old pc and it worked fine. So i open up the case to see if anything is loose, check my graphics card, make sure it is secure, etc. I find nothing visibly wrong so I decide to shut my case and re- attach my monitor to try again, thinking it may be a motherboard/bios problem or a bad video card. However, when I turn it on again it after re-attaching the monitor it booted up fine and everything has been working normally since yesterday like nothing ever happened.

My system is one I put together myself, it has an AMD FX-8350, ASUS ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard, R9-270X video card, 8gb corsair vengance ram, corsair 750 watt power supply, 250GB SSD with a dual boot for windows 7 and linux, and a 2TB HDD.
Should I be worried since I haven't had it since? My friend thinks I should reset the BIOS but would that be the problem if it is a one time or intermittent problem?

Thanks, it booted up again normally this morning, but every time I turn it on I now hold my breath hoping it will boot up normally. I am hoping there was just a loose connection with my monitor. I forgot to mention that I need an adapter that came with my video card to plug it in, I think I got this monitor, a 21" LG, in 2010 or 2011. If not that, then resetting the BIOS if it happens again, a big pain if I have to get a new video card and a bigger pain if I have to replace the MB. At least they are still under warranty.

Unfortunately it came back again. This time it initially booted up then the BSOD, then it rebooted a few times but wasn't stable. I reset the jumpers on my MB but that didn't help either. I turned it on and the same problem as originally posted. I put an older video card in and it worked fine, so I assumed it was a bad video card and got a replacement at Fry's.
The new card seemed to work fine last night after I reloaded the drivers, so I assumed all was well until this morning. I turned it on and the same thing happened again-random starts then going to a BSOD. I managed to get into the BIOS and I think I founde the problem. The 3.3V rail was consistently showing low voltage-between 2.8 and 2.92 before it shut down again. So it seems to me most likely to be a power supply problem? I have a Corsair CX750 which I thought would be more than sufficient to run my setup, so I am not sure if it is going bad or it is just a bad match for my computer. I did check the bios when I put the other weaker video card in and did not show low voltage at that time yesterday evening, so I didn't have any reason to suspect other thatn the video card initially. Is it most likely the power supply?

It could be the PSU or GPU. Try to stress your old GPU using Unengine valley or any stress testing tool you have. Check for stability run for about 2~3 hours to confirm. If it goes smooth then we can remove the PSU in the problem, then remove your old GPU and stress your new GPU and check for stability. If it error then the is the problem, same as the PSU in the 1st process if the process fails.
