Hello,

I've read quite a few threads on this forum regarding components since I'm planing on buying new computer. Even after reading it all I'm still unsure what should I choose.
I am looking for a gaming computer that will last 5 years and can be Oc'ed and crossfired at some point. Important thing to note is I planned on spending 750 euros but if it means I will get longer lasting computer for 100 euros more i will spend it. Another thing that bugs me is should i wait few months for some new components.
I will break it down to 3 options. If something needs to be changed please advise me.

1.
CPU : AMD FX 8320
MB : Asus M5A97 Evo R2.0
Cooler : Master hyper 212 Evo
Graphic : XFX R9 280x 3GB black edition
Memory : Kingston 8 GB 2x4 hyperx 1866 CL9
Power : FSP FORTRON Netzteil RaiderS 750 80 + S 750W
HDD : WD blue 1 TB
Case : Z3 plus

Price : 761 euros

2.
CPU : i5 3570k
MB : ASrock Z77 Extreme 3
Cooler : Zalman CNPS 7x
Graphic : XFX R9 280x 3GB black edition
Memory : Kingston 8 GB 2x4 hyperx 1866 CL9
Power : FSP FORTRON Netzteil RaiderS 750 80 + S 750W
HDD : WD blue 1 TB
Case : Z3 plus

Price : 832 euros

3.
CPU : i5 4690k
MB : GA-Z97X-GAMING 3 S1150 Z97 ATX
Cooler : Zalman CNPS 7x
Graphic : XFX R9 280x 3GB black edition
Memory : Kingston 8 GB 2x4 hyperx 1866 CL9
Power : FSP FORTRON Netzteil RaiderS 750 80 + S 750W
HDD : WD blue 1 TB
Case : Z3 plus

Price : 867 euro

Im buying components in Austria but I am from Croatia. Can really find a good dealer but at least in Austria it is cca 100 euros cheaper on what ever i choose. This are the prices i should pay.

Is it worth going 100 euros more for newest Intel chipset? I am also unsure about the MB I choose but going for Hero VII seems to expensive for me.

In all there variants i can push 10-30 euros more if it REALLY means i would get what im looking for. Only thing i plan on changing on this computer in next 5 years is : OC after warranty, maybe crossfire another Graphic card if really needed at some point, add SSD when i will be able to afford it. I would like a separate internet card since we had quite a few Lightning strikes this year but again i will buy that at one point.
I would like to know if components i choose are a match ( fits the case for sure :)) ) and that they dont have really weak part which would unbalance my system.
Also should i consider buying more fans?

TL DR : Which of the 3 would you choose for next 5 years of gaming knowing u wont be able to upgrade much ( crossfire only one day maybe ).
Would you change anything?

Thank you very much in advance please do advice and give me your thoughts.

P.S. sorry for rusty English :)

Of the three builds you listed, #3 is the one I personally would pick, particularly if you are overclocking. There is no need for 1866mhz ram, it will not help gaming performance over the 1600mhz and you can save some money there.

As for your mobo, right now the Z97 series of chipsets are a good value, especially over the next couple of months as the x99's come out because the Z97 price will continue to drop. Also the Z97 (and H97) will support the next generation of CPU's so you can take advantage of that in the future.

All your components for the build #3 do work together, but your power supply is not good quality. For a good 650W PSU try EVGA 120-G1-0650-XR. I would recommend going on some european boards to ask in that market...

A website called pcpartpicker is good for pricing and checking compatibility, and there are different versions of it depending where in the world you live. Hope that helps.

I agree with i7Baby on almost all points.

- i5-4690k is a great choice striking the perfect balance.

- Even I don't like the PSU. Get one from tiers 1, 2a or 2b just as he said.

- And I'd go with Asus Z97-A or the GA-Z97X-Gaming 5

- Ditto with the cooler. CM Hyper 212 Evo is a better choice.

- And no need to get the 1866MHz RAM, instead the 1600MHz is more than enough.

Ty for your thought's so atm it has come down to two choices :

1.
CPU : AMD FX 9590
MB : Asus M5A97 Evo R2.0
Cooler : Master hyper 212 Evo
Graphic : XFX R9 280x 3GB black edition
Memory : Kingston 8 GB 2x4 hyperx 1866 CL9
Power : EVGA SUPERNOVA 750 B2 80 PLUS or EVGA SUPERNOVA 650 G1 80 PLUS ( same price )
HDD : WD blue 1 TB
Case : Z3 plus

Price : 847 euros - Problem i see here is the processor runs high temperature according to reviews and I'd have to get water cooling system...I would avoid that if I can at least atm. I would like my guaranty to cover any unfortunate events and water seems like possible hazard :/

3.
CPU : i5 4690k
MB : Mod 1150 ASRock Z97 Extreme4 (ATX/Z97)
Cooler : CooMas Hyper212 Evo
Graphic : XFX R9 280x 3GB black edition
Memory : Kingston 8 GB 2x4 hyperx 1866 CL9
Power : EVGA SUPERNOVA 750 B2 80 PLUS or EVGA SUPERNOVA 650 G1 80 PLUS ( same price )
HDD : WD blue 1 TB
Case : Z3 plus

Price : 891 euro

Difference between memory prices is max 10 euros so I will stick with this one (81 euro ) unless I should really buy something else ( better ) for the price. I will be using computer for a bit more then just gaming but it must fill gamer's need so that is why i say gaming mostly. I would like SSD yes but at this point and in this price there is no way i can afford it. I am already steeping over my budget and I'm getting at uncomfortable zone.
Extra cash i spend now from original 750( +-10%) will delay buying new monitor greatly and ofc SSD :(.

I will check pcpartpicker.
Thank you very much for your thought's for now.

For both builds, changing your video card to a Sapphire R9 280X may save you about $40-50, and Sapphire makes good cards.

For build 1, you don't need any AMD processor faster than the 8350, in fact the 8320 is a great processor and costs even less. Remember most of the heavy lifting will be done by your GPU, which is a good one. You can also cut the cost of your motherboard in half by choosing the ASRock 970 Extreme3 R2.0 ATX AM3+ Motherboard instead. Also remember you *do not need* to buy a special CPU cooler unless you are overclocking. My recommendation is to save money now and buy one later down the road.

As far as AMD goes i did want the 8320 one and not the 8350 one. Seemed like It is the same processor just OC'ed allready. I want nice cool temps. at least 3 years so I dont ware any of the parts down. Then i plan on Ocing for next 2 years and hopefully it should last :). Im optimistic by nature lol.

I get almost the same price for all cards...
Sapphire Radeon R9 280X OC Dual - X, 3072 MB DDR 5, DP, HDMI, DVI - 251 euro
XFX 3 GB D5 X R9 280X Dual Fan BLACK R - 249 euro
Asus3 GB D5 X R9 280X - DC2 R - 262 euro
RADEON R9 280X 3 GB GDDR 5 PCI-E - 245 euro
Gigabyte Radeon R9 280X OC R2, Windforce 3x, 3072 MB DDR 5, miniD - 264 euro
Sapphire RADEON R9 280X Dual - X OC - Graf - 273 euro
Sapphire RADEON R9 280X TRI - X OC ( UEFI ) - 276 euro

So that one seemed like a perfect pick :)

Btw my last build was somewhere 2009 with Inel dual core E6550 @2.33 Ghz.
Hopefully i can still manage to place the parts properly... I haven't seen any new hardware except a bit on pictures :))))) Any advice maybe ? Should I be worried by something? :)

There is nothing wrong with your video card, but generally the most respected brands are by Asus, EVGA, MSI and Sapphire. Since they're all pretty equivalent the XFX seems like it's the way to go with your pricing.

I think your plan is just fine, so you don't need a special cpu cooler, try the less expensive motherboard and the 8320. It will help you financially and you can get your monitor sooner :)
