Hi,
I have a Acer laptop that I brought earlier this this that came with uninstalled windows 8. I'm wanting to COMPLETLY wipe the hard drive and install Linux onto it but the only thing stopping me is I don't want to loose my copy of Win8 (in case i want to go back for software reasons etc/sell in future) What is the best way about making some kind of original back up? Also this laptop does not have a CD drive. Create an ISO to store on my external maybe?

Go to 'Control Panel' > 'Recovery' and open 'create recovery drive'. When asked tick the use recovery partition for the creation. You will need a usb stick up to 20gb in size. The program should tell how much space you need. You can also use the recovery software provided by Acer, for instructions and to download check this Acer knowledge article: http://community.acer.com/t5/Knowledge-Base/Windows-8-Recovery-options/ta-p/60811.
