Hello peeps,

(Firstly I want to note that all drives and software are up to date as well as bios.)
I've purchased a kingston v300 120GB ssd and Ive installed it in the ood slot with a Silverstone TS08 slim caddy.
Ever since then I sometimes got random windows 8 error messages at boot.
I thought that maybe something wasn't seated well, so I rechecked that and everything was firmly in place.

I looked in the bios as well and everything seemed fine, ACHI was enabled and the drives were in legacy mode. SSD as boot drive.

I then thought maybe it had to do with legacy mode so I enabled UEFI and reformatted both drives in GPT so as to be recognised. I installed a free copy of windows 8.1 on the SSD again but alas, I was getting the same results :smileysad:

I downloaded crystal disk info which give various info on drives and saw something interesting.
My SSD in the odd slot was showing "SATA/300 current mode and SATA/600 supported mode".
I then proceeded to switch the hdd and ssd. I placed the ssd in the where the default hdd location is, and the hdd in the odd caddy. Rebooted and never got an error (but the issue was intermittent). I ran the tool again and this time I was getting the "full speed" for the ssd SATA/600 for both current and supported whereas the HDD was at SATA300 supported 600.

I rebooted once more and this time it seemed to be getting stuck at the lenovo screen (black screen with lenovo in white). I tried booting into the bios but it took ages for that to come up as well, eventually it did and again everything seemed ok in the bios. UEFI enabled, as well as ACHI and so on.

This is where I'm currently stuck. The notebook takes ages to boot, but when it does, everything is running fine inside of windows.

Has anyone experienced anything like this or can shed some light?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.
Costa
