Hello,
Recently I overclocked my A10-5800K to 4 Ghz from its stock 3.8 Ghz. To do this, no voltage increase was required to get a stable result. I then increased the turbo boost multiplier to 44 from its stock 42. This seemed to be stable until today. I think it might have something to do with it now being summer instead of winter. While running prime95 today my system crashed (turned off and on automatically) after about 20 seconds. I thought it might be too hot or I havent given it enough voltage so I restored the CPU to its factory settings. When I booted up with stock settings, my CPU refuses to turbo boost. It seems to be stuck at 3999 Mhz and will not go to 4200 Mhz like its meant to. Windows and AMD overdrive says its maximum frequency is only 4 Ghz and its turbo boost is 4 Ghz aswell. In the BIOS it is set to 4.2 Ghz turbo however, windows doesnt recognise this. I attemped to increase the turbo boost multiplier in AMD overdrive which crashed almost immediately after I started prime95. I am using a Cooler Master Hyper Evo 212 so I dont think cooling is a problem. I think the problem has something to do with windows 8 or voltage issues. Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

How about disabling turbo mode and just overclocking on base clock?

4.2ghz might either require a little more voltage (no difference if by turbo or by base) or it runs too hot, throttling down to 4ghz.

Use coretemp to monitor your temperatures, as well as trying to put the frequency directly instead of increasing the turbo.
