Hi,

Can anyone please explain to me how you navigate to and manipulate the contents of the Games Explorer in Windows 8.1?

Some of my games automatically have appeared in this directory and thus are displayed under "Games" in my Start Menu. All of these games except one (Bioshock 2) are NON-Steam games.

Trying to tidy up a little bit, I thought I would remove Bioshock 2 from this Games Explorer area, seeing as I currently have 2 shortcuts for it now (1 is rightfully and intentionally under my Steam Start Menu Directory) and I want to clear space in getting rid of cluttered duplicates.

I can see no way to do this.

I also idiotically experimented with the 'paste shortcut feature' in Games Explorer to another game and now I just have an empty shortcut - not clickable or functional in any way, just an eye-sore.

I'm trying to navigate to the folder through Command Prompt to manually delete contents but cannot for the life of me and despite extensive Googling manage to navigate to this folder!

C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Games is empty even with hidden files shown.

Anyone able to help?

Thank you very much.

After looking further, I actually managed to delve deeper and found something that would have been able to help me all along. I don't know how I didn't find this before as I looked hard!

I deleted the nuisance dud-shortcuts that I had created. However, I am concerned whether the windows-auto-created shortcut for my Steam Game Bioshock 2 would negatively impact this game's normal functionality, if I were to remove this clumsy, superfluous shortcut. As such I haven't done anything with it yet.
Does this Games Explorer just serve as a platform for the shortcuts contained within it to launch the games and so deleting the contents of Games Explorer is actually just harmlessly deleting a shortcut? It seems very arbitrary and annoyingly so which games Windows fancies putting in here and the resultant mess it makes of the start menu..!

I am not overly familiar with registry editing and don't want to mess up my new PC!

Thank you very much in advance.

Just an attempt by Windows with an "APP" style game launcher in Vista. they are really just a type of shortcut command with built in .png, game\developer info, and game links to applications or web pages.

there are nice Games Explorer Editors out there floating around.
