Weird display glitches

Hello tom'sHardware community, I recently built a new PC and after few days of use the display suddenly starting glitching (pictures posted below). Does anyone have anyone suggestions what the cause might be? I suspect the gpu mostly right now...

Also I switched cables around so it rules that possibility out.
System info: windows 8.1, 8gb ram, 600w psu, asus m5a97 le r2.0 motherboard.

To make matters worse I'm now stuck with a bsod loop (system thread exception not handled). I noticed that this stuff tend to happen when viewing youtube videos.

Edit: when is not bsoding the driver gives a 'stops responding but has recovered' error, is this a software or hardware error?

Turned out to be a graphics card problem (the thing blew on me a month later). Would not bother buying gpus from ebay again even if they're new and even if their seller's ratings are high.
