Liquid Cooling Warranty

Could any of you out there make logic of this? My English is quite good but this "lawyer language" is hurting my eyes.

So I'm currently using a CM Seidon 120V and I was wondering if the warranty covers other components damaged in the process of a faulty cooler?

As I've understood it, the warranty should cover everything except loss of software/files. The warranty is true as long as I don't tinker with the cooler, am I correct?

Here's the link to the warranty:
http://eu.coolermaster.com/uk/service/warranty.html

Thanks for helping me out!

It depends on what breaks. If the fan or pump give out then the chance that any other damage is done is very small. If there's a leak all bets are off, anything can break because of that. Fortunately leaks are very very rare with these factory-sealed kits.

Well, first of all local law goes above the warranty agreement:

Some states or provinces/jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of incidental or consequential damages for consumer products, and some states or provinces/jurisdictions do not allow limitations on how long an implied warranty lasts.

In such states or provinces/jurisdictions, the exclusions or limitations of this limited warranty may not apply to you.

This limited warranty gives you specific legal rights.

You may also have other rights that vary from state to state/jurisdiction to jurisdiction. You are advised to consult applicable state and provincial/local laws.

When I look at this section though:

7. Exclusion of Damages (Disclaimer)

Cooler Master's sole obligation and liability under this Program is limited to the repair or replacement of a defective product at our option. Cooler Master shall not, in any event, be liable to the purchaser or any third party for any incidental or consequential damage, (including, but not limited to, damages resulting from interruption of service and loss of business), or liability in tort relating to this product or resulting from its use or possession.

That could be interpreted as Cooler Master saying that they are only responsible for damage to the product itself (the liquid cooler in this instance), not for any damage to other components, even if that damage is caused by the liquid cooler.

I know for a fact that Swiftech does this, so it's not unheard of. Still, if local law says Cooler Master is responsible for damage to other components because of leaks etc in their cooling unit, then local law is what counts, not the warranty agreement. You may have to take Cooler Master to court to get them to admit it though.

Yea based on the above, I would look elsewhere personally. The closed loop Corsair h100i and others have a good track record of replacing damaged components. For instance, I read an article of a guy who had a cooler fail and destroy two 780 tis, and Corsair replaced both within a couple weeks time. He said it was over a very good experience. It's definitely not going to be worth your time to hire a lawyer to replace a few hundred dollars in parts if it really came down to it.

All water coolers fail, some more than others. Overall I think the Corsair h100i is the best option because it's performance is near the top, and it has a thinner profile than others, and they have an excellent reputation and warranty.

Note: I'm not sure how the Corsair warranty is in your country, but here it's one of the best.

We don't really sue people here in Sweden.. If my Seidon was to break, how big's the chance it'd take something with it? Thinking of switching it out for a Noctua anyway.

That's at least something! Perhaps I'll wait with getting a Noctua then, Save $100 and use those on a new GPU or a shirt, haha

Yea I personally have not sued anyone nor do I plan to. I was just saying that due to the comment above.

Closed loop coolers have a very, very low fail rate. When they do fail, they can fry some or all of your components. If the cost to replace a PC would break you I suggest going with a for sure warranty or air cooling.
