I'm using a 760k, but I was told it bottlenecks r9 270x in crossfire.

I have a fm2+ / a88x motherboard.

Is this true?

And is there a CPU adequate to feed r9 270x crossfire that fits on this motherboard?

Or do I really have to get new CPU and motherboard?

Thanks a lot

All you can do on your current setup is get the best chip available for your motherboard, or overclock your current chip. If you decide to overclock, make sure you have adequate cooling and a good enough power supply to do so.

Your best bet would be a new cpu and motherboard though. With such a weak cpu, xfire 270x may run into sever stuttering. The CPU may not keep up with your graphics cards in other words.

Try overclocking the max oc for that chip seems to be around 4.2Ghz.

The motherboard you have appears to be the best available that i've seen so thats a plus. The cpu as well, there are faster apu's but you'd also be paying a lot more for the intergrated gpu that you would be disabling, Thats a huge waste.

get this and learn to overclock

The only other real option is to change platforms all together.

Here is an OC guide.

I would suggest upgrading your motherboard and CPU, you just won't get the performance out of that CPU to keep up with your graphics setup. You could probably get an 8320 and Asus M5A97 R2 for about $200, and you'd have a pretty good pairing.

New CPU and motherboard for sure are needed here. This would be the cheapest I would recommend.

PCPartPicker part list / Price breakdown by merchant

CPU: Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor ($179.99 @ NCIX US)
Motherboard: ASRock Z97 Extreme3 ATX LGA1150 Motherboard ($108.99 @ Newegg)
Total: $288.98
Prices include shipping, taxes, and discounts when available

The second slot on that board only runs at x4 speed. Not ideal for Crossfire. These are the only 970 boards with a dual x8 configuration for Crossfire.

Thanks so much guys, I'll be reading this thread when I get home and see what I'm gonna do (probably get a new CPU and board)

I noticed my fps drop substantially in oggrimar playing wow but changing graphics settings won't help, so its a CPU issue/bottleneck.

You guys are the best.

You should still get a fair price for your board and cpu. There is nothing wrong with it at all, it's just shy of what you need for CF 270(x).
