looking for better cpu

Solution
the L2 is much faster then the L3 cache. On CPU's the memory structure is layered with L1 being "closest" on the chip, its super fast and very easy for the chip to access data from but its typically very small. L2 is a little further removed and a little slower. L3 has the most room for memory but its the furthest out on the stack and is the slowest of the 3 types of Cache.

The difference between 4 and 6MB is minimum. there are plenty of other factors that will determine your speed gains. Which chips are you looking at?
