I've been wondering for a LONG time, how do those unboxers on YouTube (LinusTechTips for example) get those "stock" graphics cards from Nvidia or AMD? Sometimes I don't really want to buy a card from other companies and want what I would call a regular one. How do they get those? Take this video for example: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zcrFzOpTHkw

I know he has a signed contract with Nvidia and all those other PC hardware companies where they can get those cards for free but they can't use them in their computers, but how do I get a regular graphics card?

When a new card comes out, most venders have a reference design before they get into custom designs. These reference designs are the exact same as the ones Nvidia sends to reviewers, but with a different sticker. The speeds/cooling and board design are the same thing.

These reference cards are in most cases not even made by the card makers. Some do work with Nvidia/AMD on the reference cards and are part of the group of companies that make them.

I have a reference GTX 670 for example it is on the GTX 680 board because that is how they started out with the GTX 670's before the newer shorter board(kind of wish I had the shorter board to be honest.).

Yes, that is a reference card.

EVGA and Zotac among others offer reference cards on the market. You will even sometimes find reference cards(Nvidia designed board) with non reference coolers installed.

The 5970 is a rather old card. I am not sure how easy it will be able to find one unless it is second hand.

Yes they is a the Titan Z reference design.

Why are you looking for reference cards anyway? Are you water cooling with full cover blocks?
