Ive recently bought a laptop with windows 8.1 loaded onto it. This is my first encounter with windows 8 and safe to say Im not impressed. Needless to say, the problem is not so much with the system I dont think, but with the things which are running in the background. With the new task manager you can see the programs which are running, and my seems to be going wild, with programs spike at stupid highs like "CPU 50%" every few seconds.
I would like to know if theyre is anyway of sorting this out, I.E. whilst im playing skyrim, for it not to be spiking in the background as im playing carry out tasks which I have no idea what they consist of.

Oh, and the laptop ive recently bought is an ASUS X550L
- NVIDIA GeForce 820m
- Intel Core i5-4210U turbo boost up to 2.7GHz
-8GB Ram.
Thanks :)

You can watch the "Processes" in the Task manager and sort by CPU usage by clicking on the CPU column. What to see what process is causing these spikes.
