What up guys, few days ago my computer was running hot and realize I didn't put on the CPU cooler right, but I took it off and put on a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Air Cooler and temp is running way better. After I install the CPU cooler for some reason I turned on my computer and the LED debug code was 10 then 15 then 55. I know it had something to do with memories so I took both my memory sticks out and plug one of them in to each slot one by one and realize that my motherboard could not read my DIMM slot 1 and 2. Anyhow when I barely got done building this computer like 3 days ago all my DIMM slots was working fine, then I don't know what happen. So now I'm only running 2x4gb rams in slot 3 and 4 which is not dual channel. Can anybody help me out?

Motherboard is msi z97 mpower max ac and cpu is i7-4790k before I switch cooler it was running at about 40 degree and jump up instantly pass 80 degree when I use about 15% of the cpu. After I put a custom cooler now it's fine it's running at 30 degree and max temp is about 50-60 degrees.

The big button with the thunderbolt icon is the discharge button that completely grounds the system and resets the BIOS. make sure the power is off to mobo first. Dim slot 2 and 4 are 2nd and 4th closest to cpu.

I've got exactly the same issue. i'm running with memory in SLOT 3-4 after reading this thread and it works ( which is better than running just with 4GB ).

http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/answers/id-2296408/asus-z68-motherboard-recognize-anymore-ram-slot-start-ram-slot.html

So exactly what should i do? I Have a Asus P8-z68-v
So you suggest that
1) i turn off the PC, take the power chord off
2) take the bank from SLOT 3 and put in SLOT 2
3) reset the bios by either taking off the battery or using the CLRT switch http://support.asus.com/Troubleshooting/detail.aspx?SLanguage=en&p=1&m=P8Z68-V%20PRO&s=39&hashedid=JjlGHLJGJPFfGCFA&os=8&no=1723
4) restart the PC with memory in bank 2-4

is this it?

well that's the strangest ever!!
the cm hyper 212 should be fine.
the only difference possibly is the fan connector to mobo, which should make no difference at all to the mobo. mounting the 212 should be no different to stock if it is designed for 1150 socket.

okay well i found out the reason for my problem might help others too. It wasnt the cooler or anything it was the back plate where you mount on the screws for the cooler if the metal plate is touching the mobo then I guess it shorted dimm slot 1 and 2. instead of using the cm cooler back bracket I used one of my dad old cooler back and it work fine.

i had the stock cooler for the sandybridge, now i have Thermalright MAcho Rev. A.
Temperature have dropped by 25 Celsius degrees, before it was always over 70 degrees, now it stays much lower and i have OC it to 4.6 ghz ( before i had it at 4.4 )
. It's just the ram which is not working, even if i take off the cooler i wonder what i damaged. actually, 12 GB of RAM are more than enough, i think i can survive without 16gb.
