So i installed windows 8.1 pro 64-bit on my new pc, first week it was just slow and hdd was at 100% when i looked at task manager but nothing was using it, so about 3 days ago it started giving me a error when booting something like this "Windows detected a hard disk problem. Back up your files immediately to prevent information loss" when i went to my computer right click the disk and did the error checking then it found nothing. so today it just randomly did a restart to my pc while ingame (the game had lagspikes) and i took my external hdd and started copying my games and important files. Is this normal that this happened? My HDD is 1TB 7200rpm

-----edit---
the HDD is called a samsung hd103sj

I agree, but it's probably not malware. malware wouldn't be present on bootup.

Most likely, your drive is failing.

Is it possible that my hdd cant handle windows 8 for some reason? after posting this problem i installed windows 7 again and everything works like it should. i got a custom task manager what looks and works like win 8 one does and it shows 0-2% disk usage atm when on windows 8 it showed 99% while using chrome.
