So recently I wiped my computer because it was getting sluggish and I wanted to install the OS on an SSD. Everything has gone smoothly since then, except for one issue.

My home internet is terribly slow (the fastest speed I've seen it download Steam games is at 470 kb/s). So I often use a Verizon MiFi Jetpack hotspot device, as it can reach speeds triple my home internet.

I have a wired connection to my home internet, and my computer decides it will use that even when it's connected to the hotspot. So, if I need a boost in speed, I simply unplug the ethernet cord from the wall. The problem is, the connection to the hotspot will work fine for maybe a minute after I connect. After that, my computer says the connection is fine (five bars) but my actual connection to the internet stops (Skype and Steam lose connection, Chrome keeps trying to connect to a website but never reaches it).

My computer can connect to my home wireless internet fine, and other devices in my home can connect and use the hotspot fine. It's only when my computer connects wirelessly to the hotspot that I have trouble.

My motherboard is an Asus P8Z77-V Pro, my OS is Windows 7 64-bit, and the wireless hotspot is a Verizon MiFi Jetpack. AFAIK the WiFi software installed on my computer is the Asus AI Suite II.
