Hi,

today i installed a new cooler for my CPU and in the process i probably damaged something. In fact after the install, motherboard wouldn't start and DRAM led would flash. After 3 hours of debugging i found out that the motherboard starts if i put memory in SLOT 1 and 3, and it doesn't start at all if memory is in SLOT 2-4. Putting RAM in all four slot -> doesn't POST at all and red led. I tried changing memory banks and i always get the samer results, even if i switch banks. I have 2 couples of 4GB G-Skill Ripjaws.

I'v resetted the CMOS and tried pushing the MemOk button on the motherboard, nothing to do.

Motherboard is ASUS P8-Z68V, CPU is i2600k, GPU is Nvidia GT 780 Ti.

I looked in the BIOS and the SLOT which is recognized is number 3.

Questions
1) do you think that the motherboard should be changed?
2) is there something i should test before changing the motherboard?
3) What motherboard should i buy?

Try loosening the cooler then snug back down, not overly tight, may have tightened it too much in a corner or side, that can throw the CPU out of level so it doesn't have full contact with all pins
