Hey guys,

So I built my PC last night. Everything was perfect, the motherboards LED's were on, the DirectKey worked, the RAM was all working fine, my GPU's blue light switched on and every fan was spinning.
Today I returned to try and get the splash screen to pop up on the monitor, to my disappointment it never did. I am getting seriously frustrated because everything that should be connected is!

My specs:

Corsair 650D Obsidien
AMD 9590 4.9GHz
Sabertooth 990FX R2.0
16GB Venegenace RAM
Pioneer BlueRay drive
2TB Hardrive
RM1000 PSU
Corsair H100i system cooling

Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also, try and keep your answers in non-geek friendly talk, this is my first ever PC build.

Thanks,
Ryan

Did you ever have post or BIOS displaying? If yes have changed or installed anything since last night. Ran updates or anything.

If no, then do you have any beeps or anything when you power the system on?

What's the BIOS?
Nothing else has been installed apart from the wires for the blueray player and HDD, thats it. I don't have any beeps either which might be because I don't have a speaker?

He's asking if you see any screens at all after pressing the power button.

POST (Power-On-Self-Test) is the screen that says the manufacturer of the motherboard, and will give you some button options for menus, etc.

Are you trying to install Windows on your system at the moment? What are you trying to do?

No nothing comes on the screen whatsoever. The HDMI is in on both the motherboard and TV but 'No signal' is all I get on my TV.

For the second question, I can't even get into the boot up menu to tell it where to boot from - I literally have LED lights and fans spinning and nothing else :/

I meant the GPU not motherboard.

The only thing that I can think of is you having plugged the GPU into the incorrect PCIe slot. Which one is it in?

@olsaltydog
PCIe 3.0 is backwards compatible with 2.0 slots, as long as he's plugged it into the primary 2.0 slot it should work fine.

I've tired it in both the top light brown one and bottom light brown one - same result everytime.

I know there backwards compatible, but not sure if backwards compatibility has been know to cause these types of issues.

Ffs. This is the 3rd motherboard I have gone through that doesn't work. I'm so close to giving up.

So will a 3.0 GPU work with a 2.0 PCI or not? If not I've got to send this back. I've wasted so much money on this thing.
