Hi Guys,

So I have a Seagate Central device which has a 4TB HDD. Had been working fine but all of a sudden no power. Tried changing power adaptor and still no power light.

Managed to rip the thing apart to get the HDD out (Really all I care about is some of the data on it) and plugged it as a slave drive on my PC.

Now when I look at 'My Computer' I see an additional 6 drives (none of which are accessible)

When I look at Disk Manager I see:

Disk 1: Online
8 partitions

D: 20 MB RAW Healthy Primary Partition
F: 20 MB RAW Healthy Primary Partition
G: 1 GB RAW Healthy Primary Partition
H: 1 GB RAW Healthy Primary Partition
I: 1 GB RAW Healthy Primary Partition
[No Drive] : 1 GB Healthy Primary Partition (unable to assign drive letter and doesn't show RAW)
K: 1 GB RAW Healthy Primary Partition
[No Drive] : 3720.98 GB Healthy Primary Partition (unable to assign drive letter and doesn't show RAW)

It's likely that most of my data is on that last 3.7TB partition but I'm unable to get it to open.

I've also installed Ext2 Volume Manager and now managed to read from all of the other partitions in windows that had a drive letter but still no luck on the 3.7TB partition. All other file systems are actually showing EXT3 but the one I need is still showing RAW.

I've also tried loading up TestDisk and in the partition list it shows this partition partition as 'Linux LVM'

Edit: I've also tried running the disk in Ubuntu but can't see the missing partition. I have also tried running EaseUS Data Recovery and an initial scan of the drive (which I interrupted resulted in some files showing) so there must be a way for me to get at it (hopefully without having to purchase recovery tools and spend 15 hours scanning the disk)

Please, please please - any advice on how I can recover the drive contents?

Thanks so much!

Mike

Hey and thanks for your suggestion. I was actually in the process of doing just that (Ubuntu) in the hope that this would solve it but when I got in it showed me the other partitions (i.e. the ones that I'm seeing in Windows now) without the main partition.

Any advice on what else I could try?
