gtx680 sli vs gtx980

Hey guys. I'm using gtx680 sli but planing to upgrade. I seen some benchmarks with 980 but I dunno or they official. I'm guessing single gtx980 will beat gtx680 sli or not?

The 780 was 50% faster than the 580 .... the 580's scaled about 75% so ....

2 580s = 1.75 580s
1 780 = 1.50 580s

On the other hand, the 680s scaled about 50% ... 780s about 47% (@ 1920 x 1080) ... does much better with 5760

So if ya carry that all forward ....


1 980 ~ 1.5 680s
2 680s ~ 1.50 680s

I expect they will be about the same

I wouldn't say any game. Crysis 3 being a good example and the. There is witcher and watch dogs. At least not if you are looking for 60 fps. Your 680's are essentially slower than 770's in sli and I do believe from the prelim benchmark results anandtech did or however you spell that websites name a single 980 was indeed (only slightly) faster than a 780ti stock reference card. So depending on where your 680 sli match's up against a single 780ti or single 290x that would give you a fairly good idea how it would stand up too a 980. However have 2 680's already I don't think I could bring myself to buy a 980 like you are considering because 2 680's together should be mowing through most games if not all without much issues.

I think it would be as fast as or slightly fast than your 680s. But this is just my speculation based on leak that I see so far. The only advantage 980 holds over 680 was 980 will have 4gb as standards. But there are still a lot unknown about 980 at this point. But luckily we will know the answer in a week or so :p
