He,

Im new to ocing, and im reading up and messing about.

I have an fx8320
m5a99fx pro r2
gtx 660 windf
8gb ram
Hyper X3 by CM

I can set the fsb to 230 and run stable for 20 cycles of intel burn test with temps below 60 on socket and core
I can also set multi to 20 and run stable with same parameters.

Voltage is at stock 1.224

With fsb i have to set mem lower than 1600, but close enough.

Is one way better than the other?

I dont want to try higher. 4ghz was my goal. Also cooling I have is not that good I read for high oc's

Cheers,

There's a great guide here:

One of the best write-ups I've ever found.

Also, download and read the official AMD tweak guide.

Understand the recommended voltages and temperatures before you do any overclocking. Make sure your cooling is up to task. This should include CPU, chipset and VRM cooling (voltage regulator circuit on the motherboard). The M5A99FX is a good board so you should be OK, but watch the VRM temps to be safe.
