Okay, so I'm not very tech savvy, but I'll try my best in trying to explain the situation.

I bought a new graphics card (1024MB ATI AMD Radeon R7 200 Series (Straight from Speccy)) back in April. I spent around £60 on it, and it came with a free copy of BF4 which was nice.

Now I didn't know that I needed a new PSU, and I had already ran out of money so I had to get the cheapest PSU I could, which was £15 and I believe was a "Ace-BR-Black-500W-Power-Supply"

So, it was working fine but it did have this one weird problem. It started the second time I booted up my computer, but did not become a problem until recently. I'll try to explain it the best I can.

I would turn on my computer with the VGA cable coming from the graphics card and it would display on the monitor for around thirty minutes before it would just go blank and the screen would say "No Signal"

The computer itself was still running, one time I was watching a video using Windows Media Player and the video continued even though I could not see it on the screen, other times when I would play a game and it would happen it would play the last sound it heard and just repeat (similar to when you'd change a setting in a source game, the last sound would just repeat until it loads)

Now, when this happens I have to turn the computer off from the power button, then I have to change the VGA cable from the Graphics card back to the original integrated card. When it's in the original card I do not get this problem, it will just continue to work all the time.

I do keep my computer on all the time due to ease and the fact I use TVersity to watch things on my TV before I go to sleep.

I have no idea what is causing this problem. It's not the PSU since I just bought a new 550w PSU for £40 and just installed it today and it kept happening, so that's why I'm not sure what to do since I thought it was the shitty PSU but it seems to be something else.

Incidentally, my Graphics card is currently at 84 °C when it was at 44 just under an hour ago, and I have done nothing intensive apart from access the internet.

If you're getting those temps, you need case fans, or the cooler on your GPU is really bad. Also, your GPU should only be 35C, 40C max idle. The other problem could be that your GPU is coming loose. If the power cables are coming loose or it is becoming even slightly removed from the PCIe x16 slot then it won't work.

I will have to do those things soon, right now I'm just seeing how well my computer runs without a cover on it.

Currently, my graphics card is idling at around 50 and isn't crashing, I have yet to play a game but I will have to see if I can do some of those soon.

An idle temp of 50C is way too high.

Here's a list of some possible solutions:
- Take off the cooler and re-apply the thermal paste. After that put the cooler back on.
- Buy a custom GPU cooler for your exact model and place it on.
- Use a fan controller and run the fans at max speed at all times.

I found out that my fan is not spinning for some reason. I downloaded the FanSpeed program and have been using it.

I have kickstarted the fan and now it idles at 47 degrees even while playing a game. So the GPU fan seems to work but I'll need to kick start it myself. It's been working now for 4 hours or so.

Would you suggest turning off my computer when I don't use it then kick start the fan every time I turn it on, or leave it to see if it'll over heat.

If your fan isn't running and you can get it running with software your drivers may be broken or outdated, or the software on the graphics card is corrupted. Try re-installing your drivers from the website (get the latest version) and if that doesn't help, send it in if your warranty is still good. If your warranty is void and re-installing drivers didn't help, you'll have to use that software every time you start up your computer or you can buy a new GPU.

My drivers are updated, so I doubt it's a problem like that.

I just restarted my computer and had to spend around 10 minutes just manually spinning the fan until the GPU did it itself.

I can hear a grinding/buzzing sound, it's very quiet but it's definitely there. I can't exactly pinpoint which one it is, but it is there. Right now it's around 53 degrees and going down.

I can't really tell you anything else other than there's something wrong with your GPU if the fan doesn't turn on first. What are the temps you're getting when you play games and what are your idle temps? Also, is this an ASUS card?
