So I'm trying to get to the bios screen of a new motherboard but it wasn't letting me, so I downloaded an update for it from the Gigabyte website, and installed it via usb, but now all that shows up when I boot the computer, is a blank black screen.

I have tried clearing the cmos jumpers, tried to access the dual bios(but it didn't seem to kick in), tried with and without HDD plugged in, but nothing seems to work?

Other than rma-ing it, what else is there to do that could fix it?

Other hardware installed is a i7 4770 Quad Core 3.4GHz, 300w power supply (all that is needed at the moment) and 2GB of Kingston ram.

Prior to the attempted update, the rest of the computer worked fine, other than never actually being able to access the bios.

It doesn't seem to say anywhere in the manual how to boot from the backup bios, and all of the walkthroughs that i've seem have not been of any use

It doesn't even show the splash screen... and when it did, I was never able too use any of the multiple functions from it (i.e. boot menu, q-flash or bios)

ya dont know heres what it says --- GIGABYTE DualBIOS™ feature two physical BIOS ROMS mounted onto the motherboard. One chip acts as your "Main" BIOS, or the BIOS your system primarily uses during boot up. The second chip acts as a "Backup" BIOS and has the factory default BIOS version on it. If your "Main" BIOS happens to fail or stops functioning, the "Backup" will automatically take over on your next system boot with little or no down time. ---

so did that part fail to??

you did it as said here??

I couldn't use q-flash as NONE of the splash screen options ever worked for me (this is a new mobo).
I needed to alter the BIOS to change settings to allow for mac os x to be installed, so I updated the BIOS to F7 (it arrived on wednesday using version F4) using a USB and Fat32 format using a guide I found online.

However it completed installation then the screen went black but the computer stayed on. after a while it turned off, and now whenever I turn the computer on everything starts up but the screen is black, but it has signal going to it.

what was wrong with f4? all i know if you enterd the bios the first time you still should the same way so how did you flash it if you got no os on it to do it outher than direct with a usb drive?? when you first power it on just start tapping the del key and see if it may catch the bios to enter it

tap Del during POST, right after the computer is turned on not just once but keep taping it tap tap tap tap tap

I have NEVER entered the bios. The current OS was installed on a different computer, and then put into the this one. I don't know what was wrong with f4, but it wasn't letting me access it, so i couldn't boot from the usb. In order to get it to boot from the usb to install the new bios version, i removed the HDD so that it booted from the usb by default, since no other media was attached. I have tried spamming the delete key, but nothing happens. The black screen remains. The splash screen doesn't even appear.

I have no idea what you are talking about.

I installed windows 7 ultiamte 64 bit on the computer using a bootable USB. once windows was working I tried to enter BIOS (previous attempts failed, it simply didn't enter whenever the splash screen came on) and it refused.

I went to update the BIOS to F7 using a USB, it crashed half way through and now I only get a splash screen after resetting the CMOS, but even then it won't enter.

Please stop replying if you're going to go this much off topic.

I'm looking for help on my BIOS problem. NOT on how I SUCCESSFULLY managed to install windows on a computer that doesn't yet have a CD drive.
